QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE AND ENERGY AWARE RESOURCE ALLOCATION FOR VIDEO CONTENT DISTRIBUTION TO TELCO-CLOUD USERS
##plugins.themes.bootstrap3.article.main##
Abstract
The edge devices have been increasing rapidly by the recent years. It has been predicted that there will be fifty billion things connected to the Internet by the year 2020. Therefore, it will be very tough to serve them the quality services. Since the advancement of the modern technology like Telecommunication (Telco) Content Delivery Network (CDN) services has brought an innovation for the huge traffic surges and provide faster services. Live video streaming, parallel video streaming are bandwidth hungry services and they need simultaneous delivery of the video chunks to have the video quality first class. Since, the customers are increasing and the resources are limited, that is why optimization should be carried out to reduce the usage of virtual CPU (vCPU) and provide the service to the customers as many as can. We propose an algorithm which allocates virtual resources optimally according to the vCPU load or the number of users are simultaneously accessing the video server. Our proposed algorithm has been able to accommodate more users and also Quality of Experience (QoE) is maintained along with saving the uses of vCPU resources.
