About FSE

Welcome to the Faculty of Science & Engineering, Green University of Bangladesh. It was founded in 2003 and now is comprised of three departments: Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), established in 2003; Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), established in 2003 and Textile Engineering (TEX), established in 2008.The role of deanship of this faculty is now lead by Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, an academic leader and devoted researcher in the field of computing.

Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) believes in imparting quality classroom education for all students. The trained and experienced faculty members are key factor in achieving this goal. Thus, GUB arranges a 4 months long “Certificate Course in Teaching and Learning (CTL)” for all newly recruited faculty members which is conducted by Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, honorable Vice-Chancellor of Green University of Bangladesh. In addition to that, Faculty of Science and Engineering regularly invites scholars and experience faculty members from home and abroad to conduct various seminars and workshops to keep faculty members updated with cutting edge teaching and learning tools and technologies.

The Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) is regularly publishing the GUB Journal of Science and Engineering (GUBJSE), which has ISBN and DOI numbers and the articles are published online through BanglaJOL. The FSE also organizes International Conference on Sustainable Technologies for Industry 4.0 (STI). STI 2019 was held during 24-25 December and it gathered around 12 distinguished keynote speakers, 200+ authors, 100+ senior academicians, 30+ industry practitioners from 20+ countries of the World.

Green University has a library with a rich collection of 17478 number of books, 30000 e-journals, and 34256 e-books.  There are almost 5778 books for the students and faculty members of science and engineering majors.

Message from EiC

It is with profound pleasure, humility and anticipation that we celebrate the launch of Green University of Bangladesh Journal of Science and Engineering (GUBJSE). On behalf of the GUBJSE Editorial Team, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to the readership of GUBJSE. I take this opportunity to thank our authors, editors and anonymous reviewers, all of whom have volunteered to contribute to the success of the journal. The GUBJSE accepts publications based on peer reviewers’ comments, similarity check report using Turnitin software and evaluation in the editorial board meeting. The GUBJSE was launched in 2014 and it has published one issue in a year. I am highly happy to share with you that the articles of GUBJSE are now available in https://www.banglajol.info/index.php/GUBJSE/index, with separate Digital Object Identification (DOI) number for each of the articles. We are also happy to share with you that the paper submission, review and publication activities will be managed by our own developed software system interfaces available at https://journal.green.edu.bd

We could reach this stage through the constant support of our expert advisors, editorial board members and intellectual generosity of the readers and contributors (authors and reviewers). One of the objectives of this journal is to encourage publication from different streams of scientific and engineering researches that help to enrich further the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Green University of Bangladesh.

I hope you all will enjoy reading articles and ideas on this journal from wide varieties of fields of science, engineering and technologies. I strongly believe that this new innovation will show the right ways to our stakeholders of GUB. In this context, I take the opportunity to especially encourage our young faculty members and students of GUB to bring this innovation culture to a certain level so that our GUBJSE will be able to ensure its glistering presence in global Digital Library.

Once again I welcome you to this journal – your journal! With your support as authors, reviewers, and editors, I see very bright prospects for GUBJSE to serve science, engineering and technologies communities even better in the future. Ultimately, we will improve more lives and, consequently, our communities.

Finally, I welcome and encourage constructive feedback and commentary to fulfill the dreams of GUBJSE.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns, please address them to gubjse@fse.green.edu.bd.

Thank you. We hope you will find GUBJSE informative.

Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque

Open Access Statement

GUBJSE is an open access international journal. All the original articles and review papers published in this journal are free to access immediately from the date of publication. We don’t charge any fees from any reader to download articles and reviews for their own scholarly use.

An Open Access publication is one that meets the following conditions:

  • The author(s) and copyright holder(s) grant to all users a free, irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual right of access and a license to copy, use, distribute, transmit and display the work publicly and to make and distribute derivative works in any digital medium for any responsible purpose, subject to proper attribution of authorship, as well as the right to make small number of printed copies for their personal use.
  • A complete version of the work and all supplemental materials, including a copy of the permission as stated above, in a suitable standard electronic format is deposited immediately upon initial publication in at least one online repository that is supported by an academic institution, scholarly society, government agency, or other well-established organization that seeks to enable Open Access, unrestricted distribution, interoperability, and long-term archiving
  • Open Access is a property of individual works.
  • Community standards, rather than copyright law, will continue to provide the mechanism for enforcement of proper attribution and responsible use of the published work.

The Open Access movement - A comprehensive outlook

In recent times, there has been a lot of debate on the implementation of Open Access for research publications. Keeping this in mind, a comprehensive outlook on Open Access and its impact on scientific community is being provided in this article.

Open Access should be seen as a means of accelerating scientific discovery by providing free and unrestricted access of scientific knowledge via the Internet. An essential role of Open Access is the long-term preservation of peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles and research data. Open Access is not only used for journal articles but is also being implemented to theses, scholarly monographs, and book chapters. Promotion of Open Access is very crucial to encourage innovation, socio-economic development, and flow of knowledge around the world. As such, Open Access can be defined as an instrument ultimately used for public welfare to stimulate the growth of global science, as well as maintain the quality of scientific achievements at the same time.

Restricted access to research findings and scientific discovery through subscription and pay-per-view journals will only impede communication through the scientific community. In addition, restricted access can also hamper the education and dissemination of scientific knowledge to the aspiring younger generations who are keen to pursue a career in science. Increased productivity and development of science can only be achieved by diffusing knowledge and providing the facilities for creating permanent repositories such as Open Access.

Through Open Access publications, scientists can avoid subscription fees and copyright and licensing restrictions to access free scholarly literature. Since Open Access publishing allows the permanent restoration of scientific data through digital copies, other than the constraint of Internet access, scientists around the world can freely share information and collaborate to enhance the progress of science. Open Access journals not only give royalty to free literature, but also reduce costs for paper-copy production, physical storage, and distribution through digitalized copies.

The benefits of implementing Open Access are reaped by many end users, such as, students, researchers, clinicians, patients, policy makers, and journalists. As long as there is Internet access, people from all over the world, be it an underdeveloped country in Africa, a developing country like India or developed countries such as USA or UK, will have immediate access to latest research findings. Thus, Open Access initiative helps in unlocking the traditional methods of subscription articles and releasing information to tertiary level readers, who normally would not have access to first hand research studies.

Realizing the potential of Open Access in terms of greater visibility within and beyond the scientific community, in recent years, there has been a tremendous boost to Open Access movement through various Open Access publishers. We are one such publishing group that believes in this movement and is most ardently working towards the welfare and progress of scientific community. We are built upon the principles of Open Access and is determined to provide free and unrestricted access of research articles to scientists around the world for the advancement of science and technology.
